FV2CE: Dog Competition is a Leaderboard Event

 Contrary to the misleading wording on FarmVille 2's Country Escape first update email about this newest event. The Dog Competition event is in fact a leaderboard not a crafting one.

Marie returns to your farm with a special friend that has agree to teach a few new tricks for your own Amazing Dog Competition! 

 If you are at least Level 12, you will see a pop-up inviting you to the Dog Competition! Tap in this area to start the event.

How to Play the Leaderboard Event

 The Dog Competition starts on June 7th, 2017. It has 2 stages, giving you 12 days to compete against other players to win. The dog can be upgraded which means it will have an extra boost to bring items while the non-upgraded dog will act as a regular farmhand.

 Craft the items requested before the timer is up and you will be awarded points depending if you have a boost or not. Speaking of boosts ---

 The gold boost is given free but the next one will costs you keys. The silver boost is always buy-able with coins. The amount of coins depends on the level you are currently at the time of playing.

 You can check on your progress in the competition by tapping the second tab which looks like a trophy cup. Supposedly you will be placed in a tier with similar leveled players. If you like competing against your friends you can check on how you rank against them as well.

Peanut butter: Found at the: Mutt Market, Grandma's Glade, Prized Cow, and Prized Chicken
Fish Stock: Found at the: Mutt Market, Merryweather Mine, Prized Pig, Prized Reindeer, and Prized Sheep
Natural Rubber: Found at the: Mutt Market, Pappy's Pond, the Cove, Mallard Mill, Prized Horse, and Prized Goat

All of these are worth higher points then the normal crafted items.

Trainer Judith & Nellie: Temporary Helpers

You can purchase Trainer Judith, and/or Nellie the Spaniel for keys to help you find rare event items. Just remember that they will leave your farm once the event ends.
