Farmers, after 11 years on Facebook Games the once popular farming platform is going to shut down its doors. This is because the old Farmville platform works entirely on Adobe's Flash player. Now this relic of the past is full of defects and loopholes that allows malicious coding to be injected into your browser while you play. Adobe finally recognizes this and will stop using it because the rest of the internet has already started to leave it behind.

Basically, its not a good thing to have a Flash game in this day and age.

 Farmville shuts its Barn Doors

Now this only applies to the original Farmville game that works entirely on Flash. Farmville Country Escape on mobile will still continue onward without a problem.

Where does this leave Farmville players then?

Farmville players will still be allowed to play the game till December 31st 2020. Don't expect to get refunds on any purchases or subscriptions already spent. Zynga expects you to use it all up from now until it shuts down. They're not entirely greedy. Zynga won't allow purchasing any new in-game virtual items from November 17th 2020.

Have to admit the Farmville trees were pretty neat

Expect a new version of Farmville called FarmVille 3

Zynga said it plans to release a new version of the game called FarmVille 3 on mobile platforms soon. You can expect them to deliver on that promise considering how much they want to retain their original players while drawing in new customers. Whether or not it'll be as good as the original is yet to be seen.

Even if you don't play Farmville know that the major web browsers like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Apple’s Safari will also be dumping Flash support by the end of this year.
